Following her stint with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, and the great critical success of her debut solo album album Vari-Colored Songs (an Album of the Year in the Sunday Times and Songlines), Leyla McCalla returns on a new label, Jazz Village, with her second album. Named after a book on Haitian music (originally from a Haitian proverb), the album focuses on Creole, Cajun and Haitian music, and the centuries of culture and tradition therein.
